New Mexico Department of Health's Turquoise Lodge Hospital is a facility that provides substance abuse treatment services to New Mexico residents. We specialize in medical detoxification, social rehabilitation services, and Intensive Outpatient services.
The Utilization Review Section provides appropriate patient care by ensuring that insurance companies cover required costs.
Why does the job exist?
The Healthcare Practitioner position will provide resources, administrative support, and technical assistance to a multidisciplinary team in a hospital setting.
How does it get done?
This position will assist the ACCESS department in screening and triaging patients into the appropriate level of care, assisting callers in accessing resources, and documenting outcomes of phone calls in an electronic medical record. This position will also assist the admissions, medical, nursing, utilization review and counseling departments with administrative tasks on a daily basis and/or as needed.

Adults who present with substance misuse and co-occurring disorders and staff of Turquoise Lodge Hospital.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have experience:
- In working in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Documenting clinical information in a medical record.
Minimum Qualification
High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) months experience with a public assistance program, medical, healthcare, educational, and/or state facility working with policies and procedures, conducting analysis/research, and/or providing or requesting information from the general public. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Employment is subject to nationwide criminal background check and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training.
Working Conditions
This position will perform work in a hospital and office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDTI and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
