Hi!
We are looking for a Head Baker for our Bakery/Commissary Kitchen in Kensington! We produce all of our bagels, cream cheese, latkes, brioche doughnuts and more out of this 3,000 square foot facility (plus storage unit) and need someone to assist the production Manager. On Weekends, this person will be the lead manager in charge. Applicant must speak fluently in Spanish and English.
WHO WE ARE
Started by Jacob and Alexandra Cohen in the early days of the 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic, Kismet Bagels started out 1 dozen a day out of their house in Northern Liberties, to now becoming a household name among the Philadelphia Bagel scene. With shops in Fishtown, Rittenhouse Square, Reading Terminal Market, and The Main Line (Narberth/Penn Valley), Kismet Bagels produces high quality bagels, and creates unique (but familiar) sandwiches for everyone to enjoy!
THE POSITION
While producing over 20,000 bagels per week, we take great pride in creating the same wonderful high quality product over and over again, and expect our Head Baker to feel the same way, and leading a team through the process.
We want someone for this position who has minimum 2 years managerial experience, can proactively and respectfully manage staff, can think on their feet and problem solve and stay highly organized as well as efficient. This position will report to our Production Manager who you will work alongside in the facility.
Our production is for our Four Shops, as well as Farmers Markets, Catering, National Shipping, and some light Wholesale.
SCHEDULE
The Schedule for this position is Thursday to Monday. Weekday Hours are Midnight-8am, and Weekend hours are 10pm-6am.
REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of 2 years experience in a managerial role with similar experience required.
- Applicants must include a cover letter, resume and 2 professional references.
- MUST be comfortable working early mornings/late nights
- MUST have a car (we have a Private Gated parking lot)
- Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience with managing, training and running a team
- Leadership and management skills
- Food prep experience
- Experience with spreadsheets
- Passion for producing the same quality over and over again
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Previous experience of handling inventory and ordering
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Assist with Directing all kitchen operations
- Monitor and engage in all food production
- Assess and maintain quality and consistency
- Enforce protocols and sanitary practices
- Assist with inventory and ordering
- Assess and resolve conflicts and issues that may arise while you are leading on weekends
- Proactively communicate with direct team members and other managers in the company
COMPENSATION
Annual Salary of $50,000
We also offer 80hrs PTO per year, as well as Sick Pay accrual. Lastly, we contribute 25% to Health Insurance.
