As the Fee-For-Service Pediatric Speech Pathologist, you will be responsible for the planning and provision of speech and language rehabilitation services to patients in their homes; and to work with patients, families, and/or others to provide training and/or assistive devices for speech and language rehabilitation. Now Hiring Per Visit Speech Pathologists in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens The Fee-For-Service Pediatric Speech Pathologist is responsible for the planning and provision of speech and language rehabilitation services to patients in their homes; and to work with patients, families, and/or others to provide training and/or assistive devices for speech and language rehabilitation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Develops a plan of treatment which encompasses treatment modalities, frequency of visits, expected outcomes, and short-term goals. Assesses patients and organizes a therapeutic plan of care for therapy including swallowing disorders. Evaluates test results to determine the presence and extent of speech and language disorders or swallowing issues. Evaluates patient limitations and rehabilitation potential in collaboration with agency professionals. Evaluates and makes recommendations for the use of therapeutic devices and other equipment to maintain or restore maximum performance of speech and language. Considers the patient's psychological response to the effects of disease and changes in body image and speech. Addresses patient's needs in a treatment plan with realistic short-term and long-term goals. Implements the plan of treatment under physician direction and in collaboration with agency professionals. Provides speech and language rehabilitation services to achieve identified goals. Plans, directs, and supervises patients, families, and other appropriate health team personnel in the use of specific verbal/physical exercises and/or equipment to facilitate speech and language. Teaches the use of adaptive equipment to patients, families, and other appropriate health team members. Instructs patients, families, and other appropriate health team personnel in program exercises for the continuation of the maintenance program. Counsels patients/families to aid in interaction and adjustment to the patient's functional limitations. Observes, records, and reports to the physician and program personnel the patients' reactions to treatment and any changes. Required Qualifications: Must have a license and current registration to practice as a Speech Pathologist in the State of New York. Masters of Art in Speech Pathology. A minimum of 1 year of experience as a speech pathologist working in a hospital, long-term care, rehab facility, or home health agency. Experience working with the pediatric population is a plus. Must be able to make home visits in potentially unsafe and unsanitary home environments and be comfortable with travel on public transportation in potentially unsafe areas of the community. Lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 325 pounds utilizing an assistive device in the home environment may also be required.
