Job Description Greetings, Our client in Union City/Fremont area, CA is hiring a QA Mechanical Inspector II & III. This is a full-time employee position with great opportunity to work on challenging assignments and grow your career. There are 1st and 2nd shift positions available. REPORT TO: Quality Inspection Supervisor SUMMARY: The QA Mechanical Inspector II uses metrology equipment and GD&T knowledge to verify that parts meet drawings and specifications. Responsibilities also include writing nonconformance reports, process transactions in the ERP system, and continually improving the inspection process. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Must be a team player as measured by his/her peers. Open to constructive feedback from senior inspectors and leaders. Keeps work area organized and clean. Follows visual management rules. Completes paper inspection records, electronic records, and other relevant process steps. Expert understanding of relevant QMS documents. Able to read mechanical drawings to determine nominal dimensions and tolerances. Basic knowledge of GD&T drawing call-outs (run-out, flatness, and true position). Contributes improvement ideas and leads small improvement projects. Self-motivated and seeks out work to use time efficiently. DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES: Able to accurately use all Mechanical Inspector I equipment and the following inspection equipment: Micrometer (all types), optical comparator, and Mueller gage. Evaluate cosmetic flaws and accurately determine conformance of parts. Can write nonconforming reports with minimal oversight. Advanced responsibilities include: Can operate and troubleshoot two types of automated test equipment (Mitutoyo CMM, Zeiss CMM, or Amada Fabrivision). Can perform basic GD&T measurements (run-out, flatness, and true position) utilizing mathematical calculations using a height gage or manual CMM. Troubleshoots some of the CMM outages that occur. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Technical background or aptitude. HS Diploma with a 2-year degree preferred. Three years experience in a manufacturing environment. Lean Six Sigma yellow belt preferred. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Able to accurately use all Mechanical Inspector II equipment and the following inspection equipment: hardness tester, XRF analyzer, and other specialty equipment. Coordinate measurement system analysis studies. WORKING CONDITIONS: Typically bends, stoops, and crouches. Frequently lifts, carries, or moves objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Interested? Or know someone who is?
