JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Penn State Climate Science Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Program is seeking an undergraduate student to provide part-time program support in preparation for and during the summer 2025 program. The program itself will run from May 28 to August 1 and the support person needs to be on-campus for the majority (not necessarily all) of the summer. The program support person will meet at least weekly with the program directors and is expected to work approximately 5-10 hours per week during the spring semester and 10-20 hours per week during the REU summer program. The program support person will help prepare for the summer program during the spring semester. They will help organize programming, lunches, and a poster symposium. During the summer, they will work with the mentors and the students to provide needed technical support, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and programming problems. The program support person will also assist in web site maintenance and communication of REU activities via social media. The program support person should have the following skills: Familiarity with Penn State computer systems; Strong organizational skills; Ability to communicate promptly and effectively with students, faculty, and staff (including Penn State technical computing staff) both in-person and via email, Zoom, and social media platforms.
