Hood Packaging Corporation is a manufacturer of quality packaging materials and is present throughout the United States and Canada with its 20 production sites. The company has grown through innovation and strategic acquisitions. Initially operating in the cotton trade, they have expanded their flexible packaging expertise to paper, plastic, and woven substrates. Their East Angus division , specializes in the manufacture of large paper bags with specifications that can serve the food, mining, and other industries seeking quality packaging.
The plant, which employs about 100 employees and designs between 50 and 100 million packaging products annually, has recently made a significant investment in its equipment lines. This has enabled the establishment of a new, fully automated production line, incorporating the latest technologies in manufacturing and quality control. This investment allows the production of bags that improve their ecological footprint while meeting the growing demand for packaging sold to consumers and for industrial markets. The company's market, which spans the entire North American continent, has clients primarily located in Quebec, Ontario, the Maritime provinces, and the Northeastern United States. In a succession context, our client is looking for an experienced general manager to oversee all aspects of the factory's operations and contribute to the company's overall strategy.
Your challenge and your role
Reporting to the Regional Director of Operations, you will manage all of the Plant's operations by ensuring their efficiency, profitability and alignment with the group's overall strategy. Your thought leadership will be the pillar on which the management team will rely to forge sound decisions and strategic actions. While cultivating an environment within the organization where integrity and innovation are the core values, you will be expected to:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the site, including the areas of production (sales and marketing, accounting, human resources and labour relations, occupational health and safety, engineering, quality, environment, planning, purchasing, systems and R&D);
- Supervise the entire business operations of the Plant to ensure the efficiency, quality and profitability of the company (customer and supplier relations);
- Support and develop the management team composed of a dozen highly motivated and qualified professionals;
- Clearly define short-, medium- and long-term objectives in conjunction with the Regional Director of Operations to contribute to the development of the company's policies and programs towards sustainable success;
- Proudly represent the company at conferences, business meetings and other corporate events;
- Ensure that the facility complies with regulatory and industry standards;
- Work with Senior Leadership to implement strategic initiatives that will catalyze the achievement of the company's ambitions.
Your profile
- You have a university degree in engineering or business administration;
- You have a minimum of 10 years in the manufacturing sector and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a strategic management position;
- You have a solid background in managing labour relations in a union environment;
- Bilingual both spoken and written (English and French);
- Any combination of relevant training and experience will be considered;
- You are recognized for your leadership, the quality of your communications and interpersonal relations, your rigor and your business acumen;
- Your ability to synthesize, your strategic vision and your ability to work in a team make you a professional who knows how to lead your team successfully;
