Hours: days, eves or nights nLength of Assignment: Up to 2 years.nnSummary of Need:nAs a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will care for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, such as Down syndrome and Cerebral palsy. You would be involved in the treatment of people with developmental disabilities under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).nJob duties include, but are not limited to:nAdminister medications and injections.nPerform tube feedings.nHang IVsnCollect blood samples, if certified for venipuncture.nProvide colostomy care.nObserve patients and report changes in their condition.nTake and record temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure.nObtain specimens for analysis and perform other medical procedures as ordered by a physician.nPrepare and apply simple dressings.nBathe and feed; and care for people and their homes by performing such tasks as making beds, changing linen, lifting and moving people and caring for their personal effects.nnQualifications:nLicensed Practical Nurse in New York State.nAt least 1-year current experience working in long-term care or hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with the developmentally disabled patients.nHighly motivated, independent thinker and self-starter.nEnthusiastic team player.nExcellent organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills.nAble to manage multiple projects. Strong follow-up and communication skills.nExcellent computer skills. (Word processing, office scheduling, familiar with Windows).n
