Role Overview:
Could you be our next Enterprise Strategy Portfolio Manager? Globe Life is looking for an Enterprise Strategy Portfolio Manager to join the team!
In this role, you will be responsible for managing one or more Portfolios as directed. As a Portfolio Manager, this role supports the entire lifecycle of a portfolio, identifying items to be included in the portfolio thru a formalized intake process, helping disposition requests, monitoring and reporting on status, managing change control, leading reviews, optimizing standards, identifying areas for improvement, providing analysis, creating roadmaps and helping define and drive key KPIs.
This is a hybrid position located in McKinney, TX (WFH Monday & Friday, In Office Tuesday-Thursday).
What You Will Do:
- Performs Portfolio management in alignment with industry norms and standards.
- Follows and contributes to the established Globe Life Portfolio Framework.
- Successfully engages Executive and Senior Leaders, displaying appropriate communications and actions.
- Collaborates with, and becomes a trusted partner/advisor to, Executive and Senior Leaders.
- Performs all aspects of portfolio management including ensuring strategic alignment, governance, delivery and insights for the portfolio.
- Tracks all initiatives (or products or services) throughout the life cycle, monitoring performance, providing status and taking proactive measures to ensure successful outcomes.
- Identifies and manages risks and issues as well as escalating to leadership in a timely manner.
- Provides portfolio analysis, assessments, roadmaps and high value reporting.
- Establishes and follows best practices and standards for the portfolio management role.
- Collaborates effectively with the rest of Enterprise Strategy, building solid relationships and contributing to the team.
- Engages peers, stakeholders, vendors, and leaders effectively to deliver to the expectations of the portfolio sponsor and the Enterprise Strategy Planning & Delivery Leader.
- Performs other portfolio responsibilities as assigned and as the department has need.
What You Can Bring:
- 7+ years of professional experience.
- 2+ years standing up a new functional area.
- 5+ years defining processes and reporting for a functional area.
- Understanding of project/program management principles preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office & Teams; working knowledge of program/project management software (Jira, Azure DevOps, MS Project etc.) and collaboration (SharePoint, Confluence, MS Teams) is a strong advantage.
- BS/BA diploma in business, computers, MIS, management, or relevant field; MS/MA/MBA a plus.
- Articulate complex concepts in a clear and concise manner, ensuring transparent and open communication channels throughout the change process.
- Excel at tailoring messages to diverse stakeholders, fostering engagement, and mitigating resistance by articulating the rationale and benefits of the change initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated through active listening, empathy, and the ability to inspire confidence, thereby promoting a positive change culture within the organization.
- Proven expertise in leading and facilitating meetings, creating an environment conducive to collaboration, decision-making, and actionable outcomes.
- Possess advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities in meeting management to ensure meetings are purposeful and well-organized and contribute to achieving the change management goals and desired outcomes.
- High level of competency in using and leveraging the Microsoft Office Suite of products to enhance productivity, communication, and collaboration.
- High level competency in initiative management methodology, standards, and processes.
- High level competency in organizational change management (OCM) to include but not limited to strategic planning, task and timeline management, resource allocation, risk assessment and mitigation communication, and stakeholder management problem-solving, quality assurance, and adaptability and flexibility.
- Demonstrate proactive problem-solving by swiftly addressing conflicts, removing roadblocks, and taking decision action to ensure initiative momentum.
