Mechanical Designer/ Technologist (6 month contract)

Location : Mississauga, ON

Hours: Monday- Friday 9:00 am-5:00 pm

Job Description:

  • Exterior & Interior design of lighting systems for locomotive and rail passenger vehicles
  • Production of detailed 3D models, General Assemblies, and fabrication drawings using Solidworks
  • Perform detailed 3D designs, drawings & bills of materials
  • Revise designs & drawings based on internal and customer feedback Develop creative and innovative engineered solutions that meet or exceed customer requirements
  • Keep project design records and files
  • Maintain an organized filing system for all CAD files according to TDG procedures
  • Adherence to timelines and schedules


Requirements and Experience

  • 1-3 years’ experience as a Mechanical Designer
  • Experience with 3D modeling software such as CATIA, Inventor, Pro-E, SolidEgde etc. Specific experience with SolidWorks an asset
  • Advanced skills in SolidWorks for sheet metal design
  • Knowledge & design experience for manufacturing processes – CNC Machining , Sheet Metal, Metal & Plastic Extruding. Fabrication, 3D printing. (Injection Molding, Die-Casting, Stamping are an asset)
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • Basic understanding of electronics / PCB
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent capacity for synthesis analysis and innovation

Education

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (Design) / University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
