Product Designer– BIDS Team

Base Hours : Monday- Friday 9:00 am-5:00 pm

TDG Transit Design Group is seeking an experienced Product Designer to generate new concepts and proposals for various customers around the world.
Job Description:
- Exterior & Interior mechanical lighting system proposal design for locomotive and rail passenger vehicles
- Production of detailed 3D models, General Assemblies, and fabrication drawings using Solidworks
- Perform detailed 3D designs, drawings & bills of materials.
- Revise designs & drawings based on internal and customer feedback.
- Develop creative and innovative engineered solutions that meet or exceed customer requirements while being cost effective.
- Keep project design records and files.
- Maintain an organized filing system for all CAD files according to TDG procedures.
- Adherence to timelines and schedules
Requirements and Experience:
- 2-5 years experience as a Mechanical Designer
- Experience with 3D modeling software such as CATIA, Inventor, Pro-E, SolidEgde etc.
- Specific experience with SolidWorks required.
- Advanced skills in SolidWorks for surface an asset
- Knowledge & design experience for various manufacturing processes – CNC Machining, Sheet Metal, Metal & Plastic Extruding, and 3D printing. (Injection Molding, Die-Casting, Stamping are an asset)
- Knowledge of GD&T
- Basic understanding of electronics / PCBAs
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Additional languages may be an asset

Education:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (Design) or University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
