Job Description

We require a PLANT SUPERINTENDENT for our Brantford, Ontario location.


Shift Openings: 1 Day Shift & 1 Night Shift (8-hour shifts)

Salary: Competitive


Founded in 1917 in Denmark, Hartmann is the world's leading manufacturer of moulded fibre egg packaging.


The Production Superintendent will oversee and manage daily operations of the production facility, ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective production processes. This role requires leadership in both operational and personnel management, including overseeing a team of production supervisors and operators. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing or industrial operations, with a proven track record of improving production efficiency, quality, and safety.


Successful candidates require experience managing a team in a complex 24/7 facility, and have a track record of effective team building, KPI management and continuous improvement.


Responsibilities :

  • Lead and direct daily operations to meet production goals and schedules. Ensure that production processes comply with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Supervise and support a team of production supervisors, operators, and support staff. Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement strategies to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency. Identify and resolve production bottlenecks or issues.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations related to production and employee safety.
  • Ensure that products meet quality standards by working with the quality control team to monitor and adjust processes. Implement corrective actions as needed to resolve quality issues.
  • Manage production costs and work to reduce waste and inefficiencies. Collaborate with management to develop cost-saving initiatives.
  • Drive process improvements using lean manufacturing principles and other continuous improvement techniques. Lead or participate in Kaizen events and other improvement initiatives.
  • Provide regular reports on production performance, issues, and resolutions. Communicate effectively with other departments (e.g., maintenance, engineering, and logistics) to ensure smooth operations.


Skills, Experience & Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a production environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, lean manufacturing principles, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with the ability to think critically and implement solutions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in using production management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment while maintaining high standards for quality and safety.
