Akkodis isseeking a Supplier Quality Engineer for a client in Albia, IA.
You will be responsible for ensuring and improving the quality of supplier-manufactured materials for assigned commodities and/or plant areas. This includes supplier qualification, process improvement, issue resolution, and driving corrective actions. The role involves significant collaboration with suppliers, engineering, and sourcing teams to optimize performance, reduce defects, and implement quality standards. Approximately 30% travel is required for supplier audits and issue resolution.
Pay Rate: $40.00/hour to $45.00/ hour The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Onsite: Albia, IA
12+ month Contract
This is NOT an IT or Software position.
Responsibilities:
Qualify new suppliers and drive Supplier PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) for optimal first-pass yield.
Conduct supplier assessments and influence sourcing decisions.
Collaborate with engineering and project teams to incorporate customer requirements into supplier processes.
Lead the resolution of supplier issues using root cause analysis and ensure corrective/preventive actions.
Manage supplier quality performance metrics, including defect reduction and PPM (Parts Per Million) improvement.
Drive cost recovery efforts for supplier-related quality issues.
Mentor and develop supplier capabilities to meet industrial quality standards.
Monitor supplier performance, initiate recovery plans, and implement improvement projects.
Ensure compliance with standards through audits and improvement plans.
Provide shop support for supplier failures and collaborate to drive corrective actions.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supplier quality role.
Willingness to travel approximately 30%+
Experience in manufacturing or servicing industrial and/or transportation equipment.
Ability to interpret blueprints/drawings and specifications
Strong customer focus
Experience with PPAP/APQP or similar part qualification processes
Knowledge of ISO, IRIS, or other certifying bodies’ standards, quality procedures, and audit techniques
Statistically literate and familiar with Six Sigma quality concepts and tools
Ability to analyze problems and identify root causes
Strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to lead projects.
Ability to document, plan, execute programs
