Job Description: Medical Science Liaison – Psychiatry (MI, WI, MO, MN, NE)


Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and scientifically adept Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to join our client's team, focusing on the psychiatry therapeutic area. This field-based role will serve as a scientific expert and a key link between the company and external stakeholders across Michigan, Wisconsin, Missouri, Minnesota, and Nebraska . The ideal candidate will either have at least one year of MSL experience or significant expertise in psychiatry , such as clinical practice, research, or pharmaceutical industry experience.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Scientific Exchange:
  • Facilitate the exchange of scientific and clinical information with healthcare professionals (HCPs), including key opinion leaders (KOLs), academic researchers, and healthcare decision-makers in the psychiatry field.
  • KOL Engagement:
  • Identify, develop, and maintain strong relationships with KOLs in psychiatry. Understand their needs, priorities, and research interests to support mutually beneficial collaborations.
  • Education and Training:
  • Deliver fair-balanced, evidence-based, and product-specific presentations to HCPs and internal teams. Address clinical inquiries and provide relevant scientific insights.
  • Clinical Insights:
  • Gather and share real-world insights from the field to inform the company’s medical strategy, research and development, and overall business objectives.
  • Clinical Trial Support:
  • Collaborate with clinical operations to support site identification, patient recruitment, and investigator-initiated studies (IIS) within the psychiatry space.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Act as a scientific resource for internal stakeholders such as medical affairs, commercial teams, and regulatory affairs to ensure alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Compliance and Integrity:
  • Operate within all regulatory and compliance guidelines while maintaining the highest ethical standards.
  • Qualifications:

    • Educational Background:
    • Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD, NP, or PA). Candidates with an MS in neuroscience or psychology and exceptional experience will also be considered.
    • Experience Requirements:
    • At least 1 year of MSL experience , preferably in psychiatry, OR
    • Significant expertise in the psychiatry field, such as clinical practice, academic research, or industry experience (e.g., clinical trials, publications, or therapeutic expertise).
    • Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong knowledge of the psychiatry therapeutic area, including clinical practice trends, treatment guidelines, and research developments.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
    • Ability to interpret and present complex scientific data to diverse audiences.
    • Proven ability to work independently and manage a multi-state territory.
    • Travel Requirements:
    • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 60%) across the assigned region (MI, WI, MO, MN, NE) to meet with KOLs, attend congresses, and support company initiatives.
