Starchild is looking for a Bar Lead/Supervisor to join the team!

Position Summary
The Bar & Restaurant Supervisor is responsible for leading and supervising the bar & restaurant team  within the Civilian Hotel. This position requires strong leadership skills, extensive cocktail knowledge, a  passion for mixology and expertise in vermouth. The Bar & Restaurant Supervisor will work closely with  the management team to ensure the smooth operation of the bar and restaurant, maintain high  standards of service and drive the growth and innovation of the bar & restaurant program.

General Duties

  • Collaborate with the management team to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the bar.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the bar/restaurant team, fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork.
  • Uphold cleanliness and sanitation standards to create a safe and hygienic working environment adhering to DOH standards.
  • Work closely with the management team to develop and implement strategies for improving the bar/restaurant program and driving guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain an extensive knowledge of cocktails, mixology techniques, and flavor profiles to deliver exceptional drink experiences.
  • Assist SOBM as necessary in inventory, stock levels, and bar supplies to ensure smooth operations and prevent shortages.
  • Up to date knowledge of systems used in house including MICROS, Bevager, Jolt, and Microsoft Office.
  • Provide training, guidance, and feedback to the bar/restaurant team to enhance their cocktail knowledge, service skills, and overall performance.
  • Develop and execute marketing initiatives with SOBM, activations, and promotions to attract and engage customers.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, brand relationships, and new innovations in the field of mixology to continuously improve the bar program.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the bar/restaurant menu, including featured cocktails, batched drinks, frozen drinks, and moving dead stock.
  • Monitors cash and other receipts in accordance with the company’s accounting guidelines.
  • Supervises closing night procedures to make sure all tasks are completed, and end of night reporting is done correctly.
  • Reports all breakage, damage of equipment or furniture immediately.
  • Maintains professional appearance standards as directed in Employee Handbook

Specified Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve cocktails with precision and creativity, showcasing expertise in mixology and flavor combinations.
  • Develop with SOBM unique and innovative cocktail recipes that align with the bar's concept and cater to diverse customer preferences.
  • Participate in team training sessions to enhance the team's bar/restaurant knowledge, service skills, and product awareness.
  • Conduct new product awareness training with staff.
  • Participate in brand activations and sponsorship events on and off site.
  • Provides support and supervision of bar/restaurant operations during catering/events.
  • Implement and enforce standard operating procedures to ensure consistency, efficiency, and quality in all bar/restaurant operations.

Working Hours and Compensation

  • This position requires working on the floor 2-3 days per week
  • The hourly rate for supervisor days is $30
  • Benefits eligible according to Employee Handbook

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 1-2 years in a similar position preferred.
  • Candidate must be able to stand, lift and bend for extended periods of time.
  • Candidate must be able to bend and lift to 50 lbs.
  • Role may include job duties or tasks requiring repetitive motion.
  • Candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of varying shifts such as days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
