Job Description Performs basic or routine daily accounting functions as they relate to financial transactions, payroll procedures, and preparation of reports and analyses. Establishes and maintains accurate, detailed financial records. Works closely with multiple teams and requires strong communication skills, as well as a proficient understanding of US GAAP.
- Assists team with day-to-day accounting transactions and participates in the month-end closing process.
- Responsible for interpreting government contracts and setting up project data in Deltek Costpoint accurately and in a timely manner.
- Performs basic financial reconciliations of subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger by collecting and analyzing account information.
- Supports in preparation of monthly management report and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives.
- Assists with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures.
- Responsible for various special projects as assigned by Accounting management.
- Conducts special studies and performs basic analysis of financial reports and records.
- Assists with verifying the accuracy of accounting/financial data and investigates discrepancies.
- Reviews, coordinates and provides documentation to support various internal and external audit requirements.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- Pursing a Certified Public Accountants License preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in Accounting.
Other Job Specific Skills - Basic understanding of general accounting principles (GAAP) required. Experience with Cost Accounting Standards, and Federal Acquisition Regulations preferred.
- Knowledge of financial reporting.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience utilizing Deltek Costpoint and Cognos a plus.
- Basic understanding of revenue recognition.
- Good analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well with a team and independently with limited supervision.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates the ability to think quickly and be proactive.
