Accounting AssistantnnThe Accounting Assistant is responsible for supporting the efforts of the accounting department. This could include assisting with weekly payroll processing and executing multiple responsibilities in basic accounting and reporting.nnESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES:nn• Collects, compiles, and enters payroll data into software systems and ensures system data accuracy.nn• Collects and verifies timekeeping information. Investigates and corrects payroll discrepancies and errors.nn• Creates reports on paycheck disbursement and other payroll activities.nn• Performs accounting data audits.nn• Processes new employees, terminations, transfers, and record changes.nn• Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines.nn• Completes work in a timely manner ensuring all deadlines are met.nn• Files payroll related documentation.nn• Addresses employee pay-related concerns.nn• Maintain employee confidentiality and protect payroll operations by keeping private information confidential.nn• May assist or perform payroll processing duties as well as other tasks of the accounting department.nnEDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:nn• High school diploma or GED preferred.nn• One or more years of payroll experience is preferred. Multi-state payroll experience a plus.nn• One or more years of accounting preferred.nn• Familiarity with ADP, Sage 300, Power BI, and/or Rhumbix a plus.nn• Experience in the areas of GL maintenance, journal entries, month end financial processing, reporting and variance investigation and reporting preferred.nnKNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:nn• Knowledge of payroll processes and procedures.nn• Solid understanding of GAAP rules.
