Position Summary: The Accounts Payable Specialist performs a variety of accounting and bookkeeping functions in support of the Finance department. This position responds to inquiries, processes and analyzes reports, prepares and executes financial transactions, and maintains account records. This position reports to the Assistant Controller.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Review and code invoices/expenses reports while adhering to firm policies.
- Prepare weekly check runs and process manual checks as required.
- Reconcile vendor monthly statements and resolve any outstanding issues with vendors.
- Monitor contract due dates and pay within terms of contract.
- Set-up and maintain vendor accounts; and prepare 1099 forms at year-end.
- Administer credit card transactions on behalf of the Firm along with reconciling the statement with gathering receipts, coding, and data entry.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: - Sound understanding of financial concepts and ability to calculate figures and amounts for a variety of financial transactions.
- Superior organizational and follow-through skills, performing work accurately with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines and effectively prioritize a fast-paced and varied workload, effectively manage a variety of concurrent and shifting priorities.
- Strong computer skills, including solid skill in the Microsoft Office suite, in particular with Excel, as well as experience using accounting software systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree plus 1-3 years of related accounts receivable/payable experience and/or appropriate balance of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Associate degree in accounting/finance or a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. Prior experience working in a professional services firm is a plus.
Environmental Factors/Physical Requirements: This position performs primarily work in an office environment, and works utilizing primarily a computer, keyboard and telephone. This position may need to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, as needed. This position may need to move or lift items in a 15-50-pound range occasionally. This position may require work over 8 hours a day, night and weekends as needed.

- Compensation: $44,000 - $52,000 depending on experience. More is possible if experience dictates.
