MHC Healthcare is seeking an Ultrasound Tech to join the medical team at the Dove Mountain Health Center, located in the heart of Marana, AZ.
The Ultrasound Technologist utilizes highly specialized sonography equipment to perform various technical procedures to support Marana Health Center (MHC) medical providers in making a clinical diagnosis. An Ultrasound Technologist's main responsibility is to perform diagnostic ultrasound images, produce documentation, and share essential information with the health care team to facilitate diagnosis and monitoring of medical conditions. The Technologist is a member of the MHC clinical team and represents the MHC philosophy of quality healthcare with dignity and respect. MHC Healthcare is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 14 sites in Tucson and Pima County. This is 24 hours per week - 8 hours per day
The following qualifications are required:
- Associate degree or certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography; required.
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography cortication; required.
- Arizona State License of Radiology (MRTBE); preferred.
- Successful completion of Sonography Principles and Instrumentation Examination (SPI); preferred.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification within 30 days of employment if not current; required.
- Experienced in one or more of the following fields of ultrasound procedures; required:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish); preferred. May be required based on patient needs.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.
This position has the following supervisory responsibility: Does not direct or supervise others.
The ideal candidate will also possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: - Knowledge of processes to obtain technically diagnostic ultrasound images.
- Ability to operate ultrasound equipment provided for obtaining the highest quality ultrasound images.
- Possesses effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Duties and Responsibilities: - Explains procedures to patient, interviewing and obtaining patient history.
- Performs ultrasound examinations in small areas such as OB, abdominal and vascular as prescribed by the physician.
- Positions patient properly using standards for the same, and communicating effectively with health care professionals, nursing units and others.
- Operates ultrasound equipment, selecting the correct technical factors and processing the digital image correctly to ensure the best quality.
- Maintains a safe, clean and efficient work atmosphere in accordance with MHC policies and procedures.
- Ensures the operation of the medical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and troubleshooting, following the manufacturer's instructions, reporting malfunctions, requesting repairs, maintaining equipment inventories and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintains the room with adequate and necessary supplies and manages resources effectively.
- Develops and maintains positive interpersonal relations with other department personnel.
- Operates efficiently to ensure images and records sent to the contracted radiologist are recorded and filed appropriately.
- Records and maintains all records concerning the ultrasound exam, including jackets, pathology files, medical imaging EMR orders, patient charts and daily logs.
- Maintains quality levels that exceed or meet customer expectations and needs through a process improvement and team-oriented approach.
- Receives reports on patients and delivers them to the appropriate provider.
- Maintains documentation of patient tests in EMR, completing required documentation for accurate records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Adheres to expectations of required/mandatory in-services and cerficiations.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks.
- Participates in education/in-service regarding Quality Improvement; e.g., quality improvement meetings, safety meetings, compliance, etc.
- Works with the management team for continuous improvement.
- Works closely with administrator and front office supervisor to resolve patient flow issues.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned or requested.
