Verizon is seeking a Ruby on Rails developer to join the Corporate Systems Group (CSG) team in support of our enterprise content management initiative. We're looking for a self-motivated, innovative programmer who's excited about leveraging new technology to improve existing enterprise systems, isn't afraid of tight deadlines, thrives on contributing to a team environment, and is comfortable in a traditional corporate workplace.

You will be responsible for the following but not limited to:
n
n-
Serving as programming lead for the learning content management system, maintaining and designing improvements to the system architecture, data models, and API implementation.
n-
Selecting programming frameworks and libraries that will accelerate development of new features and speed-to-market.
n-
Providing leadership and support for junior developers who are helping to build the learning content management system.
n-
Working with and leading other team members to build and maintain our custom Ruby on Rails based content authoring tool.
n-
Troubleshooting system and end-user issues to determine the root cause of the problem and define mitigation steps.
n-
Working with cross-functional teams to implement content and learning management solutions in information sharing application platforms.
n-
Defining, executing and automating workflows for deploying, updating, and bug-fixing a variety of online training content.
n-
Managing server provisioning and basic application infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
n-
Interpreting complex requests & implement based on aggressive timelines, work on multiple tasks independently with little direction.
n-
Collaborating with team members in a Scrum/Agile development environment.
n-
Ability to direct multiple projects to superior quality delivery.
n-
Evaluate tasks, service level agreements, business need, urgency, and prioritize workload accordingly.
n-
Translating designs into high quality code, writing unit tests and release to production
n-
Understanding the existing ecosystem, Implement features, functions, and enhancements.
n-
Ensuring application development sprint cycle is on track and adjusting the plan to meet release timelines and adapting to an agile environment.
n-
Following and improving process, including the code review
n-
Acting independently and displaying the excellent collaboration within and between various teams
n-
Understanding the underlying domain and building domain knowledge.
n-
Building the reusable code and libraries for future use.
n
n
What we’re looking for...
n
You’ll need to have:
n
n-
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
n-
Four or more years of relevant work experience.
n-
Experience developing Ruby on Rails applications.
n-
Experience with the MySQL and PostgreSQL database technologies.
n-
Experience with front-end Javascript development.
n
n
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
n
n-
Experience with deploying Ruby applications (Capistrano, etc).
n-
Knowledge HTML5, CSS3 and related browser technology.
n-
Experience using React.js to build front-end user interfaces.
n-
Knowledge of Git version control, test driven development and code reviews.
n-
Ability to function independently and select appropriate methodologies.
n-
Demonstrated technical and analytical skills, including the ability to understand and convey complex technical information in simple terms.
n-
Experience with agile development workflows.
n-
Designing, developing and maintaining software systems by evaluating and analyzing the product requirements.
n-
Experience in technical development and project management
n-
Ability to compare, process, organize and compile information, recognize trends and provide relevant solutions.
n-
Knowledge in AWS Services, Kubernetes considered a plus.
n-
Ability to work effectively within a geographically diverse team.
n-
Experience with content management systems, GraphQL api query language.
n-
Possess good troubleshooting, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
n

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
