QA Tester About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled QA Tester to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in manual testing of COBOL and Mainframe systems, coupled with a strong understanding of JCL and experience with Selenium for automation. This role is critical to ensuring the quality and reliability of our legacy systems, as well as supporting efforts to modernize and enhance existing applications.
Key Responsibilities - Develop, document, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for COBOL and Mainframe systems.
- Perform manual testing to validate functionality, performance, and reliability of applications and workflows.
- Utilize Selenium for automation testing to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
- Collaborate with development teams to understand system requirements and identify potential risks or issues early in the development cycle.
- Execute batch processing tests and validate results using JCL.
- Analyze and document test results, log defects, and track them to resolution.
- Ensure adherence to quality assurance standards and best practices.
- Participate in code reviews, requirement reviews, and design discussions to provide a QA perspective.
- Support regression testing efforts and verify fixes for identified defects.
- Provide regular updates on test progress, metrics, and any challenges faced.
Qualifications Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in software testing with a focus on COBOL and Mainframe systems.
- Proficiency in JCL and batch processing in a Mainframe environment.
- Strong experience in manual testing, including test case creation, execution, and defect tracking.
- Hands-on experience with Selenium for automation testing.
- Familiarity with test management tools (e.g., Client ALM, JIRA, or similar).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with other automation frameworks or scripting languages.
- Knowledge of relational databases, such as DB2 or VSAM, for data validation.
- Familiarity with performance testing tools and techniques.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies and practices.
