Essential Responsibilities:
- Informix or Oracle Experience required
- Manage minimum 20-30 databases simultaneously and ensures efficient data storage, flow, and contingency planning
- Establish guidelines and framework for database creation in order to gather essential database requirements to learn overall need and purpose
- Create complex schema and essential architectural layout of data fields for database construction and data consistency
- Create structure of data flow to allow for optimal query generation
- Create highly advanced dashboards
- Tune, evaluate, and monitor database performance in order to sustain optimal database expectations
- Monitor and coordinate global database disaster recovery system and high availability measures
- Research and coordinates system updates, upgrades, and patches to database and its components
- Ensure healthy backups by implementing constant recovery drills
- Proactively look for errors in the databases
- Test new system changes and determines benefits and costs
- Monitor security levels and user privileges to access information from the database
- Provide 24hr 6(days/week) support for critical situations
Preferred Education, Experience and Licenses:
Minimum 8-10 years creating and utilizing SQL based databases
Experience with Unix OS Shell (e.g. C, Korn, Bourne, KSH)
Experience with database creation method such as data modeling, performance tuning, high availability, and security access
Implementation of systems back-up measures such as disaster recovery
Familiarity with Oracle software such as Data guard, and Rac, as well as Informix software such as Mach 11, STS, and RSS
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Understand database structure and environmental relationships
Knowledge of STAR schemas for warehouse systems
Comprehension of the limitations and capabilities of databases
Knowledge of SQL coding language including PLSQL and Informix SP
Great team-work skills, strong communicator, articulate, excellent grammar and writing skills, and professional phone demeanor
Detail-oriented, quick and analytical thinker, resourceful and efficient research skills
Knowledge of B&H policies and procedures
