Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.nnPIPE WELDER (PROP SYSTEMS)nnWe are currently seeking individuals to fill a welder position at our Starship launch site. This position requires skill in a specialized trade in order to complete welding requirements and operational needs. The position is responsible for welding piping, structural steel and other facility equipment/infrastructure.nnRESPONSIBILITIES:nnComplete welding assignments and procedures for construction and repair of all site structural stands on time, safely, and in a professional mannernnCut, trim, or scarf metal objects, fit and fabricate metal components to dimensions for building and assembling test site structural formsnnUnder supervision of lead welder, analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations where procedural information is unavailablennUtilize hand welding and flame-cutting equipment to weld together metal components and parts to assemble structural formsnnVisually inspect own welds per AWS D1.1 and ASME B31.3 (normal and high pressure service) with proper trainingnnObtain and maintain internal licenses, operator permits or certifications as requirednnMake a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointlynnPerform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environmentnnBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:nnHigh school diploma or equivalency certificatenn1+ years of experience with TIG (GTAW) welding per ASME B31.3 normal and high pressure service applicationsnn1+ years of experience working in a process piping environment, using various measurement and verification tools (laser level/projector, transit, plumb line, spirit level, inclinometer, etc.) to dimension and build piping runs to/from and around fixed objectsnnPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:nn5+ years of experience using SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, oxy acetylene, fitting, arc gouging and electronic welding equipment related to the tradennGeneral mechanical skills in concrete, machining, and alignment/settingnnKnowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, AWS/ASME codes, and engineering requirementsnnExperience with standard tools, materials, motions, and practices of the welding tradennKnowledge in ferrous and non-ferrous metals in relation to welding and brazingnnKnowledge in occupational hazards and effective safety precautions of the tradennKnowledge in arc air procedures and equipmentnnExperience with precision measuring instrumentsnnAbility to rapidly change roles and responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environmentnnADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:nnAbility to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, and lifting up to 35 lbs. unassistednnValid driver’s licensennAbility to perform job duties in confined spacesnnAbility to work at elevated heights (up to 120 feet) and ability to work on ladders/lifts at elevated heights (up to 300 feet)nnWork performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, noise, and extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rainnnMust be available for all shifts (day shift, 6 AM - 6 PM or night shift, 6 PM - 6 AM), overtime and weekends as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is requirednnCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:nnPay range:nnWelder/Level 1: $20.00/hournnWelder/Level 2: $25.00/hournnWelder/Level 3: $30.00/hournnYour actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.nnBase salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
