Position Summary:

The Maintenance Technician II will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of manufacturing equipment at the FDBC Manufacturing facility. This position will ensure that the manufacturing equipment and facilities are operating in optimum conditions.


Work Location: Thousand Oaks, CA

Reports to: Sr. Metrology & Maintenance Manager

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Under minimal supervision, perform troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and repair of critical manufacturing equipment, cleanrooms facilities and Quality Control Labs equipment.
  • Responsible for repairing manufacturing equipment, mechanical and electrical equipment as assigned.
  • Review and analyze system data and make recommendations on any maintenance changes, upgrades, replacements, spare parts, etc.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, I/O wiring and panel drawings, utility, process system/equipment, plumbing and P&ID's
  • Coordinate maintenance services with third party Vendors.
  • Supervise third party Vendors while performing services on-site. Ensure that contractors are following company and safety polices at all times.
  • Review and technically approves maintenance reports, forms, and records.
  • Keep inventory of equipment critical spare parts.
  • Support investigation, change controls or new projects.
  • Assist in the validation activities for equipment and facilities.
  • Execute and/or ensure that assigned PMs (Preventive Maintenance) and Work Orders (WO) are completed per schedule.
  • Complete and document PM’s and work orders in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Able to work over-time, weekends, holidays and on-call.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Travel: Not required

Physical Demand:

  • Physical requirements include lifting up to 50lbs, climbing, extended sitting or standing, or other physical efforts that are normally required. Work is generally performed in an office, manufacturing plant or facilities.

Position Requirements:

  • Basic cGMP experience
  • Basic knowledge of machines, mechanical, and electrical, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • Working knowledge in use of tools and to perform maintenance activities.
  • Working of knowledge of computer systems (e.g., Word, Excel, CMMS Systems)
  • Working knowledge of how to execute procedures based on SOPs.
  • Working knowledge of GMP principles, concepts, and practices.
  • Basic knowledge of industry safety practices Must be able to work with all functional groups.
  • Working knowledge in troubleshooting basic electrical, mechanical and control systems.
  • Working knowledge of all safety directives and policies regarding operation of equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of operations involving engineering disciplines including Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Environmental and Industrial.


Education/Experience Requirements:

  • High School diploma, relevant trade certification, and some college or vocational training in engineering or utility systems.
  • 3+ years of maintenance experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical company.
