Advance Local is looking for a Strategic Partnerships Manager to act as a crucial liaison among our Sports Betting/iGaming Content teams, our local newsrooms, and our Sports Betting/iGaming Partners. You'll work closely with the VP and Content Manager from our Sports Betting/iGaming team, coordinating and distributing offers from our betting partners, and monitoring their performance to inform Content strategy.

As part of a team dedicated to supporting the Betting/iGaming business vertical, you'll also work closely with our SEO and Product delivery team to advise on content needs and workflows, implement new tools and strategies, and QA new technical products before their release. You'll manage conent promotion, newsletters, training and technical support for Betting/iGaming writers at Advance Local as well as partner operators.

This position pays between $90,000 - $100,000 annually.

What you'll be doing:
  • Maintain accurate and optimized offer links and Calls-To-Action (CTAs) in organized and accessible formats, tracking performance and utilizing data to inform content topics and strategies while ensuring UX best practices.
  • Collaborate with the Product Delivery team on new and existing content publication tools. Provide input on author/editor workflows and CMS capabilities, QA products before release, and develop training for end users.
  • Work with the SEO team to identify strategies and optimization techniques to improve audience reach.
  • Coordinate content promotion plans across our sites and partnerships, ensuring timely and relevant content is packaged appropriately to maximize audience and revenue. Oversee newsletter creation, distribution and push notifications. Advocate for and take ownership of advance planning and coordination for high-value opportunities. Anticipate audience wants based on events, past metrics and react to new audience behaviors.
  • Maintain content templates, proper formatting, AP Style and coach writers on best practice to ensure content aligns with our overall sites' presentation, style and ethics. Understand the values of the local market newsrooms and communicate those nuances with the broader teams.
  • Support Betting/iGaming users with technical needs, ongoing training, and best practices, serving as the critical point person during any new product rollouts or launches, as well as troubleshoot urgent technical issues and escalate concerns. Ensure accurate display and performance of content on websites and distributed channels.
  • Exercise sound judgment to know when and how to execute strategy and how to influence digital operations strategy by appropriately raising ideas for new methods and/or changes, through proper channels.
  • Communicate digital strategy in a clear way to market or partner leaders to gain buy-in and adoption. Serve as a liaison between internal teams and partners, keeping them apprised of best practices and providing essential feedback. Evaluate competing interests, priorities and requests with ethics, efficiency and time value in mind.
  • Champion content-generation tools that newsroom employees and partners use, and communicate changes or developments to the tools in a timely manner.
  • Follow industry trends, observe behaviors of online bettors and competitors' approaches, attend events/conferences, read recommended materials on the industry.

Our ideal candidate will have the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or communications or related field preferred, or a combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum five years' journalism experience, including familiarity with content optimization
  • Familiarity with audience engagement metrics across platforms (Google Analytics, Parsely, etc.) and an ability to translate them into actionable data
  • Ability to manage multiple high-level tasks and prioritize work
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively and build strong working relationships with multiple stakeholders to understand and identify needs
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Proven analytical skills to interpret data and guide decisions and raise concerns about disparities
  • Able to make sound decisions and produce accurate work on deadline
  • Solid understanding of journalistic ethics
  • Technical troubleshooting skills to identify root cause of issues
  • Ability to continuously learn and train others on new techniques
  • Proven organizational skills including advance planning and coordination of projects and initiatives
