The base salary range is $80,000 - $90,000 per year.
The ideal candidate will have:- Degree in journalism, communications or a related field is preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years of journalism experience with a proven ability in reporting and writing required, with 2 years management and/or team leadership experience to -
- Lead with authority, empathy and expertise to ensure we're producing the best possible news package for readers.
- Coach newer editors and senior reporters to help them level up and grow as journalists.
- Foster a newsroom culture where journalists feel supported, included and inspired to do great work.
- Think strategically about what it takes to grow, retain and engage with readers, and to anticipate what's coming next in the ever-changing landscape of local news.
- Familiarity or willingness to learn new tools and software, including our content management system for publishing stories and photographs.
- Innovative thinking and adaptability as we strive to be ready for the next big thing in digital innovations.
- Reliable transportation. This job requires the ability to meet with sources and cover events.
