About the Role:Pinchin is seeking an entrepreneurial, strategic, and results-driven leader to oversee the Mechanical Engineering team. In this position, you will guide the growth and development of a team of technical professionals, championing innovation and excellence in service delivery. As a senior leader, you will spearhead business development efforts, optimize operations, and ensure the Mechanical Engineering team remains at the forefront of the industry. You will collaborate with senior leadership to drive alignment with organizational goals, foster inter-departmental synergies, and shape the strategic direction of Pinchin's Mechanical Engineering services.
You Will Report To:The Director will report to the Leader of the Building Systems Group
Key Responsibilities:As a Director, you will be responsible for
Strategic Leadership:- Define and implement the strategic vision for the Mechanical Engineering team, aligned with Pinchin's organizational goals.
- Monitor and respond to emerging industry trends and client demands to maintain competitiveness and relevance.
- Serve as a thought leader, representing Pinchin at industry events, conferences, and forums.
Financial and Operational Oversight:- Establish and oversee annual budgets, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded.
- Monitor team performance metrics, including revenue, profit margins, project delivery timelines, and client satisfaction.
- Drive operational excellence by optimizing resource allocation, streamlining processes, and implementing best practices.
Team Development and Leadership:- Foster a culture of growth, collaboration, and innovation within the Mechanical Engineering team.
- Mentor senior, intermediate, and junior staff, guiding their professional development and career progression.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team and organization.
Client and Business Development:- Lead business development efforts, nurturing existing client relationships and cultivating new opportunities.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to enhance Pinchin's brand visibility and reputation in the industry.
- Partner with other service lines to identify cross-selling opportunities and deliver integrated solutions.
Quality Assurance and Technical Excellence:- Ensure technical deliverables meet or exceed Pinchin's high standards of quality and compliance.
- Regularly review project outcomes to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
- Maintain a focus on sustainability and emerging technologies within the Mechanical Engineering field.
What You Bring to the Pinchin Team:- A university degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and a P.Eng. designation in Ontario. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., MBA, LEED, CEM) are an asset.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in consulting engineering, with proven expertise in project management, operations, and leadership.
- A track record of successfully leading multidisciplinary teams and managing large, complex projects.
- Strong business acumen, with experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and resource optimization.
- Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in relevant tools such as project management software, AutoCAD, IES, and Trace.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to travel for client and business needs.
