Requirements

Bardel is seeking a specialized Animation TD to work closely and collaborate on an animated feature project with the creative and production teams. This role would be responsible for resolving technical issues, providing solutions and support to the creative and production teams, and making technical decisions on their behalf to ensure the success of the movie.

What you'll be doing:
  • Assist the team with solving technical challenges related to their tasks.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to animators on using animation tools and workflows efficiently.
  • Create custom tools and scripts to automate repetitive tasks and improve the animation workflow.
  • Collaborate with rigging artists to ensure character rigs are well-constructed and meet animated technical requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize character setups for animation.
  • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure animation output caches meet production requirements for downstream departments.
  • Research and prototype new animation techniques to improve animation process quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other departmental TDs to ensure seamless animation transfer through the production pipeline.
  • Communicate with production teams to estimate the time and resources required to handle animation-related tasks.
  • Update lead pipeline about any distinct pipeline-related bugs that might stop the artists' workflow.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for fur-related tools, and the best practices.
  • Provide training and support for artists on the proper use of tools and workflows.


What you bring with you:
  • 4+ years of experience in Animation, preferably.
  • 4 + years of experience with applications and plug-ins like Maya, Xgen, Yeti.
  • Experience working with Xgen and Yeti.
  • Good knowledge of Maya, along with Mel & PyMel.
  • Good knowledge of PyQt, PySide and Qt for UI development.
  • Experience with Shotgun and Deadline.
  • Experience with at least one of the source control systems.
  • Good knowledge of the department's workflows.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


For bonus points:
  • Experience with MASH (Maya).
  • Experience interacting with studio-based asset package database system.
  • General Knowledge about other departments' workflows.

Benefits

Pay Range: CAD $1,500 - $2,400 per week
