Description:The Office of Strategic Initiatives (OSI) at the University of Illinois System is passionate about discovering and cultivating innovative opportunities to advance research, bolster collaboration, and drive positive changes within the University of Illinois System and throughout the State of Illinois. OSI continues to strive for excellence by spearheading multiple projects and initiatives.
The Office of Strategic Initiatives seeks a project manager. This individual will be responsible for making sure that projects stay on course and that project goals are delivered as outlined. They will also help troubleshoot any issues that arise and communicate with stakeholders throughout the project.
May involve up to 10% travel within the state of Illinois.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesAct as a project manager for OSI on projects to ensure that they remain on schedule, complete outlined tasks, manage scope creep, and ensure proper escalation of any issues, work with the team to develop an escalation process for issues/risks that may arise within project delivery, maintain open communication with OSI leadership, project stakeholders, and program leads to identify and help improve internal and external processes, ensure timely delivery of progress and status of projects, continually work to manage client relationships to ensure team is meeting/exceeding expectations, facilitate the usage of project and portfolio management software, create and deliver high-quality written and verbal reports in support of individual projects or the operations of the unit as requested. Perform operational tasks in support of the unit. This includes reporting, planning, documenting, and data collection/assessment on other projects as needed. Lead and manage project team members, student-workers, and other project resources as needed. Other tasks or duties as assigned appropriate for a project manager. Minimum Qualifications Required:- Bachelor's degree.
- A total of one (1) year (12 months) in project management. (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
- Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
- SAFE Agile Certificate
Preferred Qualifications - MBA or master's degree in a related field
- Project management course certification
- Ability to interact and build relationships with stakeholders from multiple levels
- Ability to create, adjust, and manage processes for new and existing projects
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills and advanced knowledge of applicable computer systems, including Microsoft Office programs: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint, and Tableau
- Ability to work well independently as well as a part of a team.
- Ability to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
