Job Responsibilities The person in this position will support the Communications Director in developing and implementing content strategy to effectively engage diverse audiences, including the general public, current and potential program participants, current and potential donors and volunteers, the legislature and policy-makes, funders, and internal audiences, such as staff, local First Steps partnerships, and childcare providers involved in First Steps 4K. Serve as an agency spokesperson as needed by agency management, representing South Carolina First Steps at various events and media engagements. Write press releases, handle media relations, and support clear and effective crisis communications and reputation management. Assist colleagues in preparing speeches and presentations for public appearances, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging. Coordinate appearances for agency leaders as needed. Produce and manage the creation of written content for various platforms, including websites, social media, blogs, white papers, email newsletters, reports, and print materials. Take a hands-on role in content creation while coordinating with team members and external vendors to execute additional content and integrate photography, graphics, and video. Ensure all elements are integrated with clear calls to action and other engagement strategies for cohesive, engaging, and impactful campaigns. Consult on messaging and copy for marketing campaigns, video projects, and events as needed. Support and align community engagement efforts to foster partnerships, volunteerism, and donor support. Proactively seek and cultivate opportunities for external, partnerships and cross-team collaboration, ensuring alignment on resources, strategy, and focus to advance the organizations' goals and raising the profile of South Carolina First Steps as a system integrator and coordinator of early childhood services and systems. Represent South Carolina First Steps at key meetings, convenings, and events as directed. Supervise volunteers, interns, and AmeriCorps members as needed. Other duties as assigned.
This position is located in the Office of First Steps.
Minimum and Additional Requirements A bachelor's degree and relevant experience.
