Summary

The Project Controller 1 provides task management and support to project managers, office managers, and project staff primarily on project-related administrative functions. Project duties typically include set-up and maintenance of electronic project files and documentation, meeting support, monitoring schedules, labor budgets and deliverables, maintaining action item/decision logs, preparation and/or review of written correspondence, monitoring quality control processes and procedures, preparation of scope, schedule, and budget documents, editorial review of technical reports, and transmitting project deliverables to clients and teaming partners. The Project Controller 1 may also assist with office-related overhead and administrative support functions as needed. The person in this position is expected to exercise a strong work ethic, demonstrate a desire to learn and grow, and have excellent organizational and communication skills. A Project Controller is expected to work well with others, absorb and apply constructive criticism, and seek guidance from more experienced members of the team as necessary.

Project Schedule and Delivery

Supports development of project schedules. Coordinates the on-time submittal of technical work products and deliverables. Transmits, receives, and files project information according to data management policy. Schedules/attends project meetings as needed. Coordinates staffing resources as requested.
Understanding Scope and Budget

Demonstrates strong understanding of work breakdown structure, billing rates, fee breakdowns, DBE targets, and scope formats for multiple client types. Organizes the preparation of scope and budget documents that meet project needs and expectations under supervision. Monitors project financials, burn rate, and earned value as

requested. Monitors project records and documentation, including action item/decision logs.
Business Development, Marketing, and Industry Standards

Demonstrates a basic, working understanding of general industry terminology and concepts

to facilitate effective communication with project managers, team members, and clients.
Client Interaction

Frequent client communications. Manages communications between client, DOWL, and/or subconsultant staff. Serves as a company ambassador at industry functions, conferences, and other events. Builds rapport with clients and teaming partners during project assignments and business development interactions.

Level of Work/Accountability

Provides advanced levels of support to project managers and project staff as assigned. Supports project planning, organization, scheduling, communication, and performance monitoring with limited oversight. Works independently with minimal oversight to complete pursuit development and business development tasks. Follows established procedures and exercises independent judgment on administrative projects under broad minimal management direction. Duties may also include marketing support, as assigned.

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Years of experience required: 4 years (0 years as a PM)
  • Years of experience required with advanced degree: 3 years (0 years as a PM)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • PMP Preferred
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record

Salary Range: $87,822.00 to $131,733.00
