Strategic Project Manager
Job Summary

The Strategic Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing projects, programs, or initiatives that are generally significantly higher in complexity and impact to the company. Ensures all projects are managed in accordance with the Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC) along with developing and enforcing project management controls to guarantee better delivery of program objectives within approved timeframe, budget, scope, and quality expectations. This role is an expert in project management processes and best practices, serving as an experienced collaborative partner within the company and multifaceted vendor partnerships to effectively and efficiently execute the strategic plan and corporate goals.
Essential Functions
Key Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • Leads projects that vary in areas of focus including strategic initiatives, technical development and/or vendor integrations, and projects that impact core business operations and processes.
  • Influences the development and implementation of project management best practices making continuous process improvement a priority and championing the project management roadmap. Identifies and conducts departmental and corporate training to gain adoption of project management practices to optimize organizational success.
  • Develops a clearly defined project scope and accepts responsibility to execute the objectives within. Ensures the project has a business case, requirements, critical success factors, a definition of done, and that there is clear ownership and understanding of responsibilities identified throughout life of project and post project.
  • Assembles and leads a project team, working with functional leadership to identify skilled and experienced workers. Leverages leadership competencies to develop working relationships and capabilities within the team, assigning tasks and deadlines, collecting updates, managing team performance, and seeking feedback to improve team cohesion.
  • Defines project tasks and estimates task durations to develop a feasible project schedule in which to accomplish project objectives. Mitigates risks to the project plan by managing issues through proactive identification, analysis, response planning, and control techniques. Measures project progress against the schedule baseline to determine if objectives will be met on time, adjusting competing constraints as needed.
  • Estimates projects costs to develop a project budget, establishing a cost baseline. Collects and tracks expenditures, both capital and operational, to ensure project objectives will be met within budget, adjusting competing constraints as needed.
  • Monitors project progress against planned baselines through continuous measurement, metrics, analytics, and task updates. Controls outcomes through resource reallocation and manages objectives within the project's triple constraints (scope, schedule, and cost).
  • Develops a communication plan, employing appropriate techniques and approaches to engage stakeholders and distribute project information. Methods will be based on varying stakeholder needs and requirements specific to each project.
  • Documents project information thoroughly in accordance with PMLC standards to meet audit requirements and for historical reference to measure and guide process improvement.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Management or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3 years' project management experience
  • Highly motivated and skilled professional with the ability to assemble, lead, and motivate a team of professionals who are capable of producing and improving results
  • Strong leadership skills with broad experience leading teams in achieving results and maintaining efficiencies
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Above requirements and the following:
  • MBA in Project Management or closely related field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
  • 3-5 progressive years in healthcare
Environment and Cognitive/Physical Demands
  • Office Environment
  • Ability to read, hear, speak, keyboard, reason, communicate effectively and problem solve
  • Requires prolonged sitting and telephone usage
  • Requires the use of office equipment such as computer terminals, telephones, copiers and printers

  • Travel up to 20%

Below is the salary range for potential new hires.

Salary Range: $91,158.44 - $149,931.95

Other Compensation: Self-Managed PTO (if applicable), Incentive Plan

Lifestyle Benefit: $50/month
