Stantec's business is booming in the Southwest and an opportunity exists within Stantec's Water Sector for a highly motivated Engineer with wastewater treatment experience to join our team in Las Vegas. Your Key Responsibilities
- Interact with clients and project managers regarding project status.
- Apply and share experience/knowledge of water and wastewater treatment facility, wastewater collection, and water system conveyance design.
- Lead and execute the preparation of construction documents including plans and specifications. This includes developing and defining design criteria, developing calculations to support the sizing of unit processes, and inter-disciplinary coordination to finalize the detailed design.
- Engage in active mentorship of peers and younger professionals who desire guidance on career development objectives. This mentoring can take any number of forms, including guidance on preparation and delivery of presentations, papers, workshops, etc., client-facing protocols, and continuing education and training.
- Research and understand issues related to wastewater treatment that impact individual projects.
- Ensure that projects needs are met in a timely and effective manner.
Qualifications Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Have a working understanding of treatment and solids management strategies at WTPs and WRRFs.
- Have experience writing preliminary engineering reports, specs, and procurement documents.
- Have an understanding of Nevada and Las Vegas-area permitting processes.
- Have the ability to work in a team environment without close supervision.
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Education and Experience
- Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering
- Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience in wastewater treatment.
- Licenses/Certifications: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Nevada, or ability to obtain within six months of hire, is required.
Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
