Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Production Planner to join the BCS Team. This is an onsite position in Richardson, TX . The Production Planner will utilize planning experience and expertise to effectively plan and schedule production in accordance with operational goals and requirements. Provide a liaison between BCS’s assembly, customer service, purchasing, engineering and sales departments in matters concerning and/or impacting production schedules. Proactively review issues impacting schedules/deliveries and take appropriate corrective action. Review and maintain materials to ensure proper system accuracy and optimize flow. Direct the planning and coordination of material flow used in production.
Essential Job functions:
Day to Day:
Develop the planning and scheduling, for assembly, fabrication, and other material impacting production. Release manufacturing orders to meet department needs.
Evaluate schedule adherence and Service Level for the Site (KPIs).
Check work activities, evaluate delays and offer recommendation for improvement to meet customer requirements.
Analyze requirements and identify capacity constraints/bottlenecks to meet production needs.
Work closely with manufacturing supervisors, purchasing buyers and sales departments to communicate and resolve schedule problems, request special material needs and relay schedule change information.
Evaluate and respond to customer service on customer order expedites.
Develop, Improve and/or Implement:
- Procedures for level loading and executing schedules to meet customer requirements.
- Best practices for scheduling and apply to all production departments.
- Use of proper parameters to maintain planned finished goods, raw material inventory targets, lot size/Kanban quantities.
Work closely with Inventory Control to establish a feedback loop for identifying and correcting ongoing inventory discrepancies.
Assist with creation and maintenance of Planning/Scheduling reports.
Work with Engineering on bill of material discrepancies and end of life parameters.
Recommend items related to continuous improvement, evaluation, and recommendations for departmental improvements for workflow, procedures and processes.
General Responsibilities:
Active participation in ongoing individual training / development program.
Set goals and objectives with Manager; look for ways to improve quality and productivity.
Report abnormalities in equipment, machines, programs, and processes.
Perform backup functions to other team members and Manager as instructed. Engage in cross-training to support back-up efforts as directed.
Education: BA/BS required. Education in Operations Management, Supply Chain, or Business or related experience.
Required Skills
CPIM or CSCP certification desirable.
Minimum 5 years of Materials/Planning/Production Control or related experience.
Extensive knowledge of MRP and Capacity Planning theory/application.
Experience with JDE or other inventory and planning tools.
Make–to-Order manufacturing experience a plus.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Must be professional in appearance and attitude and possess the ability to work in a professional manner with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels.
Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
High level of self-initiative and dependability.
Must be flexible to perform overtime duties or adjust schedule when required.
Resourceful and highly organized with an attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage, prioritize and balance multiple tasks.
Ability to work within a team environment.
