Position Overview : We are seeking a dedicated Workers' Compensation Claims Handler at our Plant, focusing on excellent customer service, quality claims handling, and cost management.
Key Responsibilities :
- Analyze and process complex or technically challenging workers' compensation claims.
- Manage a full caseload, handling cases of increased severity with expertise.
- Oversee Workers’ Compensation Lost Time claim handling.
- Develop and execute action plans to ensure timely and cost-effective claim resolutions.
- Calculate and assign appropriate reserves, manage reserve adequacy throughout the claim's lifecycle.
- Calculate and pay benefits due; approve and make timely claim payments and adjustments; settle claims within designated authority levels.
- Prepare and submit necessary state filings within statutory limits.
- Coordinate vendor referrals for further investigation or litigation management.
- Utilize cost containment techniques and strategic vendor partnerships to reduce overall claim costs.
- Manage claim recoveries, including subrogation, Second Injury Fund excess recoveries, and Social Security and Medicare offsets.
- Report claims to the excess carrier.
- Maintain clear communication with claimants and clients regarding claim activity and processing.
- Ensure proper documentation and accurate claim coding.
- Refer cases to supervisors or management as needed.

Experience Required :
- 3-5 years of Illinois Workers' Compensation claims management experience.
Education Required :
- College degree and 3-5 years of related claims management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High school diploma and 3-5 years of related Illinois claims experience also accepted.
Additional Information : The successful candidate will start fully onsite, with the potential for a hybrid schedule once fully trained.
