Senior Structural Designer/ Engineer Overview : Our Client has an immediate opening for a dynamic Structural / Bridge Engineer in our growing Design Engineering Department. The role is in Fort Wayne, and/or in Valparaiso, IN with the opportunity for remote/hybrid work. You will be part of our rapidly growing civil/infrastructure design department, which includes structural, MOT, civil, drainage, roadway, and traffic projects.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of designers with the development of plans, specifications, analyses, evaluations, maps, procedures, and reports.
- Lead and perform engineering design tasks and coordinate with CAD teams in developing plans, specifications, and estimates for preliminary and final design of standard bridges, walls, and minor structures (Culverts, Inlet structures, etc.)
- Identify and understand technical requirements of design projects and implement engineering principles to develop solutions.
- Identify, interpret, and apply appropriate design standards and codes; ensure compliance with contract documents.
- Participate in technical meetings and discussions; strategize solutions to complex or unique technical problems.
- Identify technical differentiators and develop schemes for key project pursuits.
- Oversee the design and construction of large projects including roads, bridges, sewerage systems, pipelines, and buildings. They prepare project plans, inspect designs, and manage budgets and resources.
- Prepare comprehensive construction plan sets that include plan, profile, note, and detail sheets.
- Adhere to QA/QC standards and procedures.
- Oversee the design of projects from inception to completion.
- Collaborate with engineers and colleagues, including mentoring junior staff.
- Ensure projects stay profitable by monitoring budget versus project progress.
- Possess extensive experience in managing large construction projects and the ability to ensure adherence to construction specifications and standards.
- Preferred experience with engineering design software such as CSiBridge, MIDAS, PGSuper, HEC RAS etc. Experience with drainage analysis and design a plus.
- Design and recommend improvements to computer-aided design (CAD) software drawings and schematics. Utilizing our design software Civil 3D or MicroStation.
- Superior leadership, project management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI, and other North American design codes.
- Documenting processes and presenting project progress updates to senior managers and clients.
Qualifications Required:
- A minimum of 10+ years of experience
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
- State-licensed and certified civil engineer.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Preferred
- Licensed, Professional Engineer (PE) in State of Indiana
