Office Manager Overview: Our Office Manager will be responsible for running and growing the Valparaiso office. An Engineering Office Manager plans and coordinates projects, supervises teams, and conducts research for new projects in the field of engineering. Oversees daily office tasks such as engineering assignments, assigning tasks to others, preparing engineering fee proposals, and maintains relationships with clients. This individual should have excellent organizational and communication skills in order to manage multiple projects and clients concurrently.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direct all activities (administrative and technical). This includes ensuring our office achieves safe, profitable growth via focus on profit/loss management, employee supervision, project management, quality control, health and safety oversight, client relations and development, and new business development.
- Ability to assemble legal contracts with new or current clients.
- Responsible for general leasehold improvements, project and office equipment, and proper oversight and utilization of all personnel.
- As primary point of contact, assume responsibility for responsiveness to client, subconsultant, and contractor requests and questions that develops positive business relationships. Plan, execute, and deliver projects that are tailored to meet client expectations.
- Develop and execute annual office business & marketing plan.
- Assist Department/Group Managers in determining their staffing needs in the office.
- Apprise Division and Regional Manager of Office progress including business development, project schedules, employee management, financial results, and equipment/facility/organizational needs.
- Responsible for leading and directing the office’s Business Development efforts. This includes overseeing and/or coordinating pursuits and large proposals in all service lines.
- Develop an understanding and be aware of project-related risks. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the company. Be familiar with risk management policies and practices and hold your team accountable for mitigating or eliminating risk.
- Evaluate financial performance of projects, staff oversight, direction, and report to our client Board of Directors
- Work closely with the client design team as well as other design partners and clients as needed.
- Ensure all projects documentation and reporting are accurately maintained.
- Act as a valuable team resource on complex engineering issues.
- Provide content and information for the preparation of engineering proposals for a variety of projects.
- Other project and supervisory duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Required:
- 15+ years of experience (former city engineer or town engineer would be ideal!)
- BS in Civil Engineering o Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Preferred:
- Professional Engineering License (P.E.)
