Joyce is hiring a Chef to lead our back of house team. We are an upscale causal southern style restaurant located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. Featured in many publications such as Eater LA, LA Times, Time Out, and KTLA. We are family owned and family operated restaurant.
What you'll do:
- Update seasonal menus and create innovative dishes.
- Recruit, train, and supervise kitchen staff.
- Manage schedules and assign tasks.
- Ensure food consistency, quality, and presentation.
- Set portion and presentation standards.
- Oversee inventory and supply orders.
- Minimize waste and manage food costs.
- Inspect food quality and enforce hygiene standards.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with front-of-house and management teams.
- Plan for events and catering.
- Train staff in techniques and trends.
- Incorporate culinary innovations.
- Maintain records on inventory and costs.
- Report kitchen performance to management.
What You'll Need: - 2+ years in leadership, preferably in fine dining or upscale-high volume; Southern cooking a plus.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and cost control.
- Team leadership, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Culinary degree or equivalent is a bonus.
- Creative, passionate, and detail-oriented with budgeting proficiency.
