Community Action Partnerships of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) is a non-profit community-based health and human services organization that serves low-income, disadvantaged and those unable to meet their needs through other sources. The agency was established in 1965 and provides services to over 9,000 individuals, children and families in three main areas:
- Community Health Services : WIC, Commodity Supplemental Food, Foster Grandparents, Migrant Seasonal Head Start, and Child Development Center.
- Clinical Health Services : Primary Care, Reproductive Health, Diabetes Management, Immunizations, Migrant Health, Ryan White HIV; Behavioral Health including Counseling Services, Medication Management, Medication Assisted Treatment and Substance Use Counseling and Intensive Outpatient Services and Dental Services.
- Supportive Health Services : Family Stabilization, a Teen Outreach Program, SOAR, Youth Leadership Program, Youth Shelter and Housing Assistance Programs.

IT Specialist Full-Time, Monday-Friday 8AM to 5PM Areas of Responsibility : Responsible for implementation, monitoring and maintenance of agency computers and software applications under the direction of the IT Director. Offer technical support to staff and troubleshoot hardware or software problems while educating staff about network security and best practices for computer usage. Facilitate end user training for hardware and general computer applications including email, operating systems, and computer functions.
Major Duties : - Review diagnostics and assess the functionality and efficiency of systems.
- Provide efficient and friendly hardware and software support to end users throughout the agency.
- Load specific software applications such as operating systems, word processing, or spreadsheet programs into computer evaluating risk.
- Train and guide end users with software and hardware needs including computers, copiers, printers, and telephones.
- Resolve open Help Desk tickets and service requests accurately documenting resolutions.
- Establish and maintain network users, user environment, and directories
- Follow established security protocols and be alert to potential data breaches.
- Advise and guide end users on safe email and security matters reducing risk and liability.
- Assist with general maintenance of agency computers, phones, security system and office equipment.
- Respond to the inquiries of network users concerning access to resources on the network and operations of various software programs.
- Install and test software upgrades and additions.
- Complete maintenance and updates on computers and office equipment
- Participate in the Health Information Technology Committee
- Report major hardware or any security breaches or concerns to IT Director.
- Assist maintaining hardware inventory.

Work Conditions :
- Office setting requiring troubleshooting ability and dealing with a variety of end users.
- Well-lit, temperature-controlled office and/or clinic setting.
- May encounter stressful demands during down times.
- Able to concentrate within the everyday distractions of a busy multi-faceted agency.
- Able to work independently, analyzing and assessing workflow and turnaround times while following established policies and procedures with minimal supervision.
- Able to understand hardware and software technology.
- Able to work irregular hours, with some evenings or weekends.
Physical Requirements : - Ability to bend, stoop, walk, lift, and sit.
- Ability to sit and /or stand for long periods of time.
- Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds.
- Physically and mentally able to perform required duties and crawl under desks and track serial numbers and hook-ups.
- The position requires sedentary work, with use of earphones, keyboard, foot controls, and video display terminal and scanner.
- Need excellent listening skills, excellent eye hand, auditory coordination, and finger dexterity.
- Regularly talk, hear, and have close vision ability to record and communicate appropriate documents and records.
Minimum Qualifications: Grade: 10 - High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of experience troubleshooting computer hardware/software issues or maintaining office equipment.
- Understand support tools, techniques and technology of computer hardware, software, and networking.
- Requires proficient level of oral and written communications with proven skills in English usage, grammar, punctuation, style, and editing.
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook.
- General understanding of security risks and confidentiality challenges.
- Valid driver's license and insured vehicle.
Grade: 11 - Must meet minimum qualifications above.
- Experience dealing with network and email security
- Associate's Degree in Information Technology preferable or related field OR three years of applicable experience.
Grade: 12 - Must meet minimum qualifications above.
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field OR five years of applicable experience.
