Job Title: Accounts Receivable Specialist (Early Career)
Location: McKinney, TX
Job Type: Full-Time
Reports to: Accounting Controller

Position Overview:
The Accounts Receivable Clerk will be responsible for managing and maintaining the company's accounts receivable processes. This includes invoicing, tracking payments, reconciling accounts, forecasting cash receivables, consolidating forecast at the business level, and ensuring timely collection of outstanding invoices. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Invoicing & Billing: Prepare and send customer invoices in accordance with contracts, agreements, and company policies. Ensure that all invoices are accurate and complete.
  • Payment Tracking: Monitor and track payments received from customers. Record and apply payments in the accounting system.
  • Collections: Follow up with customers on overdue accounts, send reminders, and work with the team to resolve payment discrepancies. Handle customer inquiries related to invoices and payment status.
  • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile customer accounts to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded, and all payments and credits are applied correctly.
  • Reporting: Prepare weekly or monthly reports on outstanding accounts, aging reports, and any trends or issues related to collections.
  • Forecasting: Prepare weekly forecast updates on cash receivable and prepare robust monthly forecasts for program level cash consolidated at the business level.
  • Customer Support: Maintain positive relationships with customers to ensure timely payments and respond to any billing inquiries or issues promptly.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies regarding accounts receivable processes.
  • Other Duties: Assist with month-end closing procedures, audit preparations, and special projects as required.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in accounts receivable, billing, or related financial roles. Experience in a defense or government contracting environment is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
    • Ability to analyze data and perform account reconciliations.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Knowledge of government contracting billing and compliance is a plus.
