We are currently seeking a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our team, working primarily remote with occasional meetings in McLean, VA corporate office.
n
As the Payroll and Benefits Specialist, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation, processing and documentation of the semi-monthly payroll, maintenance and reconciliation of employee benefit programs and trained to be the backup Unanet administrator. This requires a general understanding of multi-state payroll processes, laws, and regulations to ensure accuracy and efficiency among processes, reporting, and compliance. This position will report to the Controller and work closely with the HR Manager. This role supports a growing company - requiring the successful candidate to build new processes and improve existing ones.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

n- Manage payroll processing to ensure employees are paid timely and accurately.
n- Ensure compliance with all state and local payroll tax requirements, reporting and state registrations.
n- Oversee process for garnishments and liens to ensure they are processed timely and accurate.
n- Maintains accurate and up-to-date employee data, payroll, and benefit records.
n- Administer and manage benefits programs including group health, dental, life, disability, retirement, health & welfare (H&W) and other programs offered by The Rehancement Group.
n- Assists with the annual open enrollment process collaborating with employees to answer questions and process enrollment files.
n- Assist with audits; W-4s, W-2s, ACA, 401k, etc.
n- Mid and end of year payroll and compliance reports and reconciliations as assigned (EEO-1, 5500, ACA, etc.).
n- Assists in creating ad hoc reporting, research and special projects as needed or requested to support the organization's strategic direction.
n- Serve as the backup Unanet administrator.
n- Creating and maintaining payroll and benefits standard operating procedures.
n- Provide excellent customer service to staff in a friendly and courteous manner.
n- Exercises integrity and confidentiality in handling of confidential employee and company information.

Education and Experience:
n
n- Bachelor's degree (BS, BA) or equivalent work experience preferred.
n- Minimum 5 years of experience managing and coordinating the administration, execution, and analysis of a broad range of compensation and employee benefit programs preferred.
n- Excellent understanding of multi-location payroll and taxes.
n- Experience with electronic payroll and benefits providers; iSolved a strong plus.
n- Aptitude for learning new software and systems.
n- Significant experience in MS Excel, including advanced features (e.g., VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
n- Payroll and/or benefit certifications a plus.
