The Cardiovascular Technologist assists physicians with the performance of arrhythmia related procedures including diagnostic electrophysiology studies; and therapeutic procedures including radiofrequency catheter ablation, permanent pacemaker and implantable defibrillator implantation, and tilt table testing.

Location: Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, MD is hiring for a Cardiovascular Technologist in the Cardiology Department (Cath Lab/Stress Lab/Nuclear Stress Lab)

  • 12 week contract; 7:00am - 5:30pm with on call requirements including weekends.

Pay Rate: $75.00 - $80.00 per hour (Based on experience).

Responsibilities
n
    n
  • Counsels patients on the radiographic aspects of the procedures to be performed. Participates in the education process supplementing teaching given by physicians/nursing by informing patients, families/significant others about procedure specifics.
  • n
  • Prepares patients for procedures including the accurate placement of EKG electrodes for monitoring of cardiac rhythm. Correctly places defibrillator pads.
  • n
  • Utilizing sterile technique, prepares procedure trays, performs operating site preparation, drapes patient, and organizes instruments and supplies following established protocols.
  • n
  • Operates fluoroscopy following established protocols and adjusts dose to maximize imaging while minimizing exposure to patients and clinical staff during procedure performance.

  • Monitors patient vital signs during examination. Notifies attending physician of changes. Under the direction of the physician, demonstrates the ability to use bi-phasic defibrillator to cardiovert or defibrillate patients to terminate lethal heart rhythms.

  • Obtains images, archives specific images and manages back up of image data on radiology system. Enters data into Paceart as needed.
  • n
  • Ensures proper operation of equipment. Reports equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel. Performs equipment QC per manufacturers’ standards.
  • n
  • Operates hemodynamic and electrophysiologic monitoring and stimulating equipment with minimal supervision. Demonstrates a strong working knowledge of complex procedure protocols for a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Qualifications

  • Work requires completion of an AMA approved program in Radiolog­ic Technology or equivalent, which normally is acquired in a two-year college or technical school program
  • n
  • Prefer at minimum of at least one year experience in Radiologic / Interventional procedures or completed an advance imaging program
  • n
  • ARRT certified with current registration required.  Radiography license by the Maryland Board of Physicians and current CPR and ACLS certification required
