This position provides direct assistance to physicians, sterilely prep/drape patients, scrub assist, and circulate during interventional procedures. This Interventional Radiology Technologist I position delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to Interventional Radiology exam standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service. This position is a member of the direct patient care team.nnESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSnnPromotes a positive work environment.nnCollaborates with all members of the patient care team.nnUses peer-to-peer accountability towards department goals for retention and employee engagement.nnUtilizes verbal, nonverbal & written communication to achieve mutual understanding.nnProactively responds to patient needs.nnOptimizing protocols to provide for better patient care, image quality and patient experience. This includes positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors.nnAssists physicians during diagnostic procedures or fluoroscopic procedures, including assisting with sterile technique.nnUtilizes AIDET incorporating Key Words and MANAGE UP techniques, when speaking to patients and family members at an age-appropriate level.nnPractices radiation safety and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable)nnFollows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly.nnMaintains proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practices aseptic techniques, and ensures compliance with infection control procedures.nnComplies with job role, department and hospital safety standards, practices, and policies.nnParticipates in WASTE walks and supports department LEAN projects.nnReports near misses and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends.nnPerforms daily imaging equipment quality control (QC) ensuring all imaging equipment is in safe working order prior to use. Reports any malfunctions to management and regularly practices preventive maintenance procedures; calls for service if needed.nnUtilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions (i.e., medications) or potential outcomes and obtains assistance, as appropriate.nnProvides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. This position is a member of the direct patient care team and is fully competent in all aspects of Interventional Radiology. The Interventional Technologist II position serves as a mentor to the Interventional Technologist I and students by utilizing skills and knowledge to help train and educate others. This position works independently by exercising sound judgment and executing above average clinical skills on challenging Interventional procedures and patient care situations. The Interventional Technologist II position provides direct assistance to physicians with all Interventional procedures.
