The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).

JOB SUMMARY :
n
Directs the evaluation, development, coordination, and implementation of physical therapy intervention provided to patients. Serves as a patient advocate assuring the delivery of physical therapy meets legal, ethical and institutional standards while adhering to the philosophy, objective, policies and procedures of the department and the organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : n
n- Provides evaluation, treatment and discharge planning to patients relative to age, culture and condition in assigned clinical area.
n- Documents patient evaluation, treatment progress and billing, appropriately in the medical record. Documentation must meet peer review requirements.
n- Communicates pertinent patient information with the patient, family members, physicians, team members, and other disciplines.
n- Participates in rounds, clinics and case conferences as assigned.
n- Meets required competencies for assigned area.
n- Delegates duties and monitors service delivery appropriately to PTA, Rehabilitation Aide.
n- Supervises students as requested.
n- Participates in training and supervision of entry-level therapist and mentoring physical therapist.
n- Participates in the provides in-service/continuing education/research, teaching opportunities at department, state or national levels.
n- Participates and assists with implementation and data gathering for quality assurance activities and attends seminars, webinars as assigned or indicated to support evidence based practice.
n- Participates in roles related to Community programs either with the hospital or organizational based.
n- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure established for department.
n- Performs related duties as required.

EQUIPMENT : n nSkilled in the use of materials, equipment, processes, procedures and techniques currently used in Physical Therapy Standard office equipment.n n
WORK ENVIRONMENT : n
n- May be exposed to such occupational hazards such as communicable diseases, harmful chemicals, and/or disoriented or combative patients.
n- Alertness and careful attention to detail is required to avoid injury.
n- Must be able to deal with stressful and/or complex situations.
n- Travel to other outpatient clinics and to attend CEU activities may be required.
n- Lifting is required.

nLocated within the confines of a prison, jail or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.
