Job Details
Little Mountain is seeking a passionate Beverage Director to help write our story from day one. We're looking for an enthusiastic curator and educator who believes in the transformative power of thoughtfully crafted beverages and brings both deep knowledge and genuine hospitality to everything they do. Our ideal candidate thrives in creating innovative beverage programs, has a particular passion for wines that speak of place, and gets excited about building something extraordinary from the ground up. If you're someone who sees both the art and science in beverage programming – from crafting the perfect zero-proof cocktail to nurturing relationships with small producers to creating systems that ensure flawless execution – we want to meet you.

The need to haves:

  • A deep understanding of wines, spirits, and cocktails, with particular excitement for small producers and thoughtfully made wines
  • That special magic that comes from years of helping people find a glass they love, discover new wines, and building wine and beverage lists people love to drink from.
  • A talent for building and leading passionate beverage teams - you're the kind of person who can create an environment where people are excited to learn and grow
  • Strong business acumen and inventory management skills
  • A love of working the floor and the ability to stay composed during peak service while maintaining attention to detail
  • A true passion for exceptional service and beverage education that becomes contagious among your team
  • Experience with alcohol compliance, cost controls, and relevant regulations
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels (staff, ownership, guests, producers, distributors)
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical stamina to work long hours in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong emotional intelligence and mentorship abilities

The nice to haves:

  • Advanced certification through Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET, or the school of hard knocks
  • Experience in Michelin-starred restaurants or other high-performing environments
  • Previous experience with restaurant openings or beverage program launches
  • Established relationships with small producers, importers, and distributors
  • Experience crafting cocktail and non-alcoholic beverage programs
  • A track record of creating successful wine education programs for staff
  • Experience with special events and wine dinners
  • A genuine passion for sustainability and supporting small, independent producers
  • Travel experience in wine regions and distilleries, with first-hand knowledge of production methods

If you're reading this and finding yourself nodding along - we'd love to meet. We're building something special in the Upper Village, and we need someone exceptional to help lead our beverage program. No need to check every single box - we value passion, deep knowledge, and genuine curiosity just as much as formal credentials.
