Job Title: Accounting SpecialistJob DescriptionnnThe Accounting Specialist is responsible for providing accounting and financial support to the Accounting Department. This position will maintain accounting files including daily work, accounts payable, and some accounts receivable. The specialist will work collaboratively with the Purchasing Department to maintain payable files, calculate appropriate accruals, and prepare year-end 1099's. Additionally, this role will aid in the daily bank deposit process and assist in other accounting projects and functions as needed.nnResponsibilitiesnnResponsible for all accounts payable functions, including processing internal reimbursement requests.nnCreate journal entries as needed and assist in the monthly closing process.nnResponsible for daily cash reconciliation process and preparation of daily bank deposit, including petty cash functions.nnReconcile vendor statements and accounts on a routine basis, including following up on outstanding items.nnAssist in processing, billing, and receipts of miscellaneous Accounts Receivable.nnAid in the employee reimbursement expense process, ensuring appropriate documentation is submitted, inputting to the accounting system, and ensuring the data gets to payroll timely for processing.nnEnsure appropriate recording of business expenses and revenues, with knowledge of the accrual method of accounting.nnMaintain a good working relationship within the department and with other departments. Answer the telephone professionally and in a timely manner; direct calls appropriately.nnAssist leaders with reporting and forecasting needs.nnAid in check runs both internal and external to the accounting systems, ensuring all supporting documentation and approvals have been obtained before payments are issued.nnKeep management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.nnAttend and participate in meetings as required. Ensure that work area is clean, secure, well maintained, and organized.nnAssist Accounting Department personnel as needed.nnComplete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.nnEssential Skillsnn2+ years experience with GL Accounting (journal entries, reconciliations, month-end support)nn2+ years experience with Accounts Receivablenn2+ years experience with Accounts PayablennUnderstanding of internal expenses/reimbursementsnnAdditional Skills & QualificationsnnStrong understanding of accrual accounting methodsnnExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsnnProficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office SuitennAbility to work collaboratively and maintain good working relationshipsnnWork EnvironmentnnThis position is fully on-site, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.nnPay and BenefitsnnThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00nnEligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
