What you'll be doing...
Our people are our most valuable asset, but our equipment is pretty important too! You'll use your telecommunications know-how to maintain Verizon's services and equipment in our central offices. You'll be hands-on in making sure we provide unparalleled service to our customers.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Valid Drivers License
Willingness to Work in and Around Live Electrical Equipment, Both AC and DC.
Change Start Batteries for Generators Regularly (This Requires Being Able to Lift More than 50 lbs).
Willingness to Pull Heavy Copper Cables indoors & outdoors during all Types of Inclement Weather.
Use of Safety Equipment, Safety Gloves, Safety Goggles, Flash Suits, Proper Clothing, Acid Proof Aprons, Steel Toed Boots, Not Wear Jewelry, and Not Wearing Highly Flammable Clothing.
Ability to Work all Shifts to Cover Jobs, and be Available for Emergency Callouts 24/7/365.
Maintain Permanent and Portable Backup Generators.
Regularly Operate/Exercise Backup Generators and their Associated Switchgear.
Take Fuel Readings, Fuel Samples, Oil Samples, Change Fluids, Filters, belts and hoses. Operate Generators Monthly per VZ standards.
Inspect Belts, Generator Hoses, Radiator, Fuel Water Separators, Fans, Heaters, Block Heaters, Louvers, and Start Batteries.
Maintain Power Plants: Controllers, Rectifiers, Batteries, Ring Plants, Inverters, Converters, Emergency Lighting.

You'll need to have:

Related Associate Degree or 2 or more years of relevant work experience.
Willingness to work in and around live electrical equipment, both AC and DC.
Abilitiy to change start batteries for generators regularly.
Abilitiy to maintain/operate/exercise permanent and portable backup generators as well as their associated switchgear.
Knowledge of how to take fuel readings, fuel samples, oil samples, change fluids, filters, belts, and hoses.
Ability to maintain power plants including, but not limited to, controllers, rectifiers, batteries, ring plants, inverters, converters, and emergency lighting.
