Job Title: Mechanical DesignerJob DescriptionnnWe are seeking an innovative and practical Mechanical Designer to create mechanical and electromechanical concepts and designs for components, assemblies, tools, and products of varying complexity. This role involves working closely with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality, and customers on design specifications. You will ensure designs are free of layout process defects and may assist engineers with defining design standards and configurations. This position applies Computer Aided Design (Creo 7) methodologies, theories, and techniques to review and ensure compliance with engineering and military standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensions. You will provide expert technical consultation and develop innovative concepts that satisfy functional and operational requirements for existing product lines and new product development programs.nnResponsibilitiesnnCreate innovative and practical mechanical and electromechanical concepts and designs for components, assemblies, tools, and products.nnWork closely with engineering, vendors, manufacturing, quality, and customers on design specifications.nnEnsure designs are free of layout process defects.nnAssist engineers with defining design standards and configurations.nnApply Computer Aided Design (Creo 7) methodologies, theories, and techniques.nnReview various completed engineering documents to ensure compliance with engineering and military standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensions.nnProvide expert technical consultation to the division and customer community.nnDevelop innovative concepts that satisfy functional and operational requirements for existing product lines and new product development programs.nnPrepare moderately complex design layouts, schematics, or sketches of components or functional systems.nnPrepare drawing packages to military or equivalent standards.nnCheck completed layouts, drawings, test plans, test reports, procedures, and change history documentation for clarity, completeness, and conformance to standards.nnEvaluate completed drawings, specifications, and procedures for producibility and viability of design.nnPerform and document technical calculations such as design evaluations, tolerance studies, mass and section properties, static and dynamic loading.nnIdentify assembly interference, design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend revisions and/or improvements in design.nnInterface with various internal customers to solve moderately complex technical problems.nnMay interface with external customers to solve moderately complex technical problems.nnEssential SkillsnnMinimum of an associate degree in CAD Technology, Drafting and Design E.nnMinimum of 3+ years using CAD modeling tools to create complex solid models, with CREO.nnMinimum of 3+ years of concept and preliminary design experience.nnExperience in large structures and large assembly design and modeling, preferably from Military / DOD space.nnAdditional Skills & QualificationsnnTeam playernnStrong communication skills (verbal and written)nnWork EnvironmentnnYou will work in an office setting with other designers, drafters, and engineers.
