Purpose/Introduction
Chevron Phillips Chemical Company (CPChem) is seeking an experienced chemical engineer to fill a team leader position in the Global Process Engineering organization within Research & Technology organization in Kingwood, Texas. The successful candidate will lead a team of technology subject matter experts providing process design, troubleshooting, and innovation to CPChem, joint venture and licensee polyethylene facilities. The core process technologies include single and dual loop slurry, gas phase and LDPE. #HPCP
Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise and direct the developmental plans and activities of process engineers ranging in experience from 5 to 25+ years.
  • Provide fair and consistent company policy administration, training, performance appraisals, mentoring, succession planning and career development plans.
  • Plan, coordinate and align work group activities to ensure effective process engineering services. These include process design, engineering analysis, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and other business and company initiatives.
  • Liaison closely with plant and business management to ensure alignment and efficacy of the team's plant support.
Responsibilities (continued)
  • Coordinate the preparation of process designs and initial front-end engineering for projects including scoping, preliminary analyses, economic analysis and process engineering.
  • Ensure that subject matter expertise is available and provided to plant EHS, PSM and OE activities. This may include PHA/LOPA studies, root cause investigations, startups, turnarounds and audits.
  • All candidates should possess the following skills or abilities:
    • Awareness and application of EHS principals, procedures and regulations including personnel safety, process safety management and safe, compliant process design.
    • Ability to work in and lead cross-functional groups through complex problem solving.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead teams to meet business and technical objectives.
    • Ability to build and maintain relationships with peers, clients, and business partners and communicate effectively in technical and non-technical business environments.
    • Proactive assessment and prioritization of improvement opportunities, with the ability to advocate and lead implementation.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering
  • At least 10 years of petrochemical experience
  • Previous supervisory experience
