Our Surgical Technicians are responsible for rendering professional care to patients undergoing surgical procedures within the Center, in accordance with established procedures. You function cooperatively with physicians and staff taking a team approach. Surgical Technicians are responsible for ensuring proper care, cleaning and use of surgical instruments. May transport patients to and from operating room or procedure room and assist with cleanliness of procedure room area and assists with procedure room turnover. Past experience with cataract and eye procedures is a plus. Must be a Certified Surgical Technician.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides a safe environment for the care of the patient.
  • Demonstrates an attitude that is caring, respectful, sensitive, tactful, compassionate, empathetic, and tolerant.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to the Code of Conduct.
  • Complies with center policies and procedures.
  • Uses proper cleaning and sterilization techniques per policy and manufacturer's instructions.
  • Practices appropriate aseptic techniques and sterile processes
OPERATING ROOM
  • Assists with the utilization of protective padding for patient position and skin protection.
  • Maintains proper body alignment during procedure.
  • Selects appropriate equipment and supplies for procedure, per physician preference.
  • Provides input to the circulating nurse to identify patient problems.
  • Performs item counts.
  • Ensures availability of appropriate supplies and equipment intra-operatively.
  • Handles tissues specimens.
  • Follows standards for disposal of biohazard waste.
  • Actively participates in the time out.
TEAMWORK
  • Works collaboratively with healthcare team.
  • Exhibits high level of integrity.
  • Maintains flexibility and performs other duties as required.
  • Participates in staff meetings, in-services.
