A Pediatric Respiratory Therapist provides specialized respiratory care to infants, children, and adolescents with respiratory conditions. They assess, diagnose, and treat patients experiencing respiratory issues such as asthma, chronic lung diseases, and other acute or chronic conditions affecting breathing. Pediatric Respiratory Therapists collaborate with pediatricians, pulmonologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement effective treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of pediatric patients.

Key Responsibilities :n
n- Assess, diagnose, and manage respiratory conditions in pediatric patients, including newborns, infants, children, and adolescents.
n- Administer therapeutic treatments, such as oxygen therapy, inhaled medications, aerosol treatments, and chest physiotherapy.
n- Perform and interpret diagnostic tests, such as pulmonary function tests, arterial blood gas analysis, and bronchopulmonary assessments.
n- Collaborate with pediatricians, pulmonologists, and other healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized care plans.
n- Monitor and adjust respiratory equipment such as ventilators, oxygen delivery systems, and apnea monitors.
n- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on the use of respiratory devices, medication management, and respiratory care techniques.
n- Provide emergency respiratory care, including airway management, resuscitation, and intubation, as necessary.
n- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting assessments, treatments, and progress.
n- Stay current with developments in pediatric respiratory care and participate in continuing education to maintain certification and competency.
n- Promote respiratory health and prevention strategies, including patient education on asthma management, smoking cessation, and prevention of respiratory infections.

Qualifications :n
n- Education : Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
n- Certification :n
n- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required.
n- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
n
n n- Experience : Prior experience in pediatric respiratory care
